The Transport Office, Mahe, was functioning as a Unit Office in the Office of the Regional Administrator, Mahe, since 1983 onwards, with staff strength of one Asst. Motor Vehicles Inspector, one U.D.C. and one Peon. The Office was shifted to the Civil Station, Mahe, in the year 1993.

The Microchip embedded Smart Cards for Registration and Driving Licenses have been- introduced in Mahe from 08.02.2012 onwards. Cash Counter also has been opened and in-house collection of Cash started w.e.f. 05.07.2013. The Cash Counter is manned by the U.D.C. whose service is spared from Transport Department, Puducherry to this Office. The Assistant on service placement is looking after the other allied works on of Licence, Registration etc.

I.Permit: A. Regional Administrator – cum – Dy. Secretary to State Transport Authority at Mahe has delegated with the powers to Grant of Permits for all the Transport Vehicles (Taxi, Maxi Cab, LMV GV, HGV, PSV (Educational Institution) & PSV) except Autorikshaw, LMV OB, HMV OB, Stage Carriage.
B.Motor Vehicle Inspector – cum – Asst. Secretary to State Transport Authority at Mahe has delegated with the powers for Renewal of Permits for all the Transport Vehicles, with permits were already granted by the Dy. Secretary to STA, like Autorikshaw, Taxi, Maxi Cab, LMV GV, HGV, PSV (Educational Institution)& PSV) except LMV OB, HMV OB, Stage Carriage. Motor Vehicle Inspector – cum – Asst. Secretary to State Transport Authority at Mahe has also delegated with the powers for Surrender and Replacement of all kinds of Permits as above, already granted by the Dy. Secretary to STA at Mahe
II. Registration of Motor Vehicles:Services of Permanent registration, re-registration, transfer of ownership, change of address, renewal of registration certificates/fitness certificates, hypothecation endorsement/termination, duplicate R.C., issue of NOC for all vehicles (Transport & Non-Transport)etc. are dealt with this Office. All these Services are now became web based/online and available in the website www.parivahan sewa.in w.e.f. 12.03.2018. Regional Administrator, Mahe has also delegated with the powers of Registering Authority and the Motor Vehicle Inspector with the powers of Asst. Registering Authority.

Regional Administrator, Mahe has also delegated with the powers of Licencing Authority and the Motor Vehicle Inspector with the powers of Asst. Licencing Authority.
