DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT

Mahe is a small enclave of UT of Puducherry, situated in the coast of Arabian Sea in between Kozhikode and Kannur Districts of Kerala State, 647 Kms. away from HQ, Puducherry. The population of Mahe region as per 2011 census is 41816 i.e 19,143men and 22,673 women. The total area is 875H-22A-00Ca. Mahe Sub- Taluk comprises of one Firka (Mahe) and five Revenue Villages, viz

  • Pandakkal
  • Chalakkara;
  • Palloor
  • Kallayi
  • Mahe

The Deputy Collector (Revenue) is the Regional Head of the Revenue Administration of Mahe Region. In addition to this he is working as Deputy Commissioner (Excise) and also as Electoral Registration Officer, Mahe. The organisation chart of Revenue Department, is as follows:

ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT

Department of Revenue and Disaster Management is made of the following Units:-

Office of the Deputy Collector (Revenue)

Deals with Land Acquisition, Land reforms/Land Tribunal, Disaster management /Natural Calamity, Chief Minister’s Welfare funds and other welfare measures, Freedom fighters matters, Wakf/French properties, General Election, Court matters, Public/Staff grievances, Money lenders Act, Pawn brokers Act, Patta transfer, Duty of Collector (Stamps), Court of the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Explosive Act, Revenue Recovery Act, Grant of free house site, Housing etc, Rajiv Gandhi Social Security Scheme.

Major Work: Land Acquisition for the Mahe-Tellicherry NH Bypass project is nearing completion. A total extent of 09-49-70 HAC was acquired in 3 revenue villages namely Chalakkara, Palloor and Pandakkal. Compensation award to the tune of Rs 94,59,58,913/- was passed and the project affects 210 landowners. The distribution of compensation to affected landowners was inaugurated by Hon’ble CM in the presence of MLA, Mahe on 23.12.2017. So far compensation amount of Rs 71/- Crs was disbursed to 170 land owners and the acquired lands are handed over to NH authorities

Office of the Deputy Commissioner (Excise)

The Deputy Commissioner (Excise) is the authorized Officer to issue Licence to conduct the trade of Foreign liquor in Mahe region and also issuing permits for the sale of liquor. At present, in Mahe 32 FL1 and 32 FL2 Liquor shops.

Sub-Taluk Office

The Deputy Tahsildar(Revenue)-cum-Executive Magistrate is the head of Sub-Taluk Office and he is issuing various certificates to the general public and also acting as Excise Inspector and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer. The various certificates issued from Sub Taluk Office is as follows and all certificates issued from Sub-Taluk Office is on free of cost except Settlement Extract/Chitta copy

Office of the Electoral Registration Officer

The Electoral Registration Officer/Returning Officer is conducting Elections to Mahe Assembly Constituency and also to the Puducherry Loka Sabha Constituency in free and fare manner. The Following services are rendered to the General Public by this Office

  • Registration of name in the electoral roll
  • Registration of name of Non-Resident Indian in the roll
  • Registration of name of Service personnel in the roll
  • Deletion of expired/shifted electors from the roll
  • Correction of entries in Electoral roll
  • Issue of PVC Electoral photo Identity card to all electors.

Survey Unit

Survey unit is doing the demarcation and survey of land of the general public to maintain and protects the lands in their possession. Also issuing FMB copies and Survey sketches to the public on payment of requisite fees

Office of the Legal Metrology

The Inspector of Legal Metrology is head of this Office and doing the stamping of weights and measures used in all shops and establishments in Mahe region and in the Petrol bunks.
