Tsunami Mock exercise – IOWave 20 on 20.10.2020 at 11.30 AM at Mahe
The Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC) and Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) had jointly conducted a Tsunami Mock exercise named IOWave 20 on 20.10.2020 at 11.30 AM at Mahe to test the communications protocols and to assess organizational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), plans and policies for tsunami warning and emergency response in the backdrop of a pandemic. All the Emergency Support Function (ESF) Teams and Task Force teams in Mahe region participated in the mock exercise conducted at the Mahe College ground.
In the Mock Drill, Thiru. Aman Sharma, Regional Administrator had briefed the Standard Operating procedures to be followed during the time of Tsunami and the roles and responsibilities of each ESF and Task Force Teams. The Mahe Municipality was advised to formulate a Tsunami Warning Siren which should be blown during the time of Tsunami to inform the general public.
The Team Leaders from Revenue, PWD, Municipality, Police, Electricity, Health, Fisheries and Fire Services participated in the Mock Exercise
